Cash only and no receipt offered, you do the math. Didn't try the donuts purchased as they were a gift so no input on that subject. Kids will eat anything. 🐒 Cleanliness, "Poppy is sloppy".

These ladies know how to make donuts! I love this place.

Family owned debut shop. We love the cinnamon twists, yeast donuts, unfilled long johns, cinnamon rolls and donut holes. They run out fast make sure to get there early. Closed on sundays and Mondays.

I got to say I love their donuts, but the service is horrible. The lady up front is rude, none of the employees greet you, not even a smile, and they all have attitudes! I was told this morning when asking for the donut that I always get, and I quote " we don't have them, and she ain't gonna make them!" I know that I will not be back, simply because of the service. In my opinion you can have great food, but if the staff is rude to you it makes you think twice before going back. They lost a customer, and I'm sure you will lose more.

I have been going to this donut shop for the better part of 35 years. Love the lady the runs and owns it and she is always super nice. Doctor says i need to stay away but they are really the best donuts around. Worth the trip even for a dozen! Won't be disappointed. Aaton Gibbs

Great, old school donut shop. Poppy's is an Independence institution! Like all bakers, get in early for the best selection. And, be sure and have cash, as they don't take plastic.

Extremely small donut shop. Runs out fast. No one that works there is friendly. Nowadays, I never carry cash, especially in the neighborhood the donut shop is in. "Cash Only" signs all over the place just advertise "rob me"!My 3 stars are for the donuts only. Your service needs major attention and is at a -3.

I have to give 5 stars because there donuts are so amazing! I crave them! The plain ones are by far the best! The service is not great, and they only take cash but i will deal with it just for the donuts!

Went here this morning for.the first time. Mentioned that it was.our first time here and there was no response. No welcome of any kind upon entry. Donuts are just ok. Staff friendliness is a bit lacking.

The best donut place around. I see a lot of people say unfriendly staff which I find odd because we have never had a problem with anyone being unfriendly and it’s the same staff everytime so I don’t know, maybe caught them on a bad day? We came in there with crazy 2 toddlers and a infant and everyone was so sweet! We love this place!!

Best cinnamon roll I've ever had! Not greasy or crunchy or too sweet or too cinnamony; just a perfect fluffy pillow of donut flavoured air-barely chewed just melted in my mouth!! Service is no nonsense-just order, pay cash only and get out of the way of the next in line which was out the door. 5 stars

AMAZING DONUTS! You have to get there early sometimes, but considering they start cooking at like 330 am, that's understandable. I have never, ever had a bad donut from here. Cash only, but it's a small business. If you haven't been here before, you HAVE to check it out.

Best donuts in the USA nothing like opening up a warm bag of Poppy's Donuts when I get home biting into them and feeling that sweet comfort of home so delicious.

Love the donuts when they have any.but lately they haven't had the white butter cream donuts and you ask them about it and never get straight answer the service has went down hill the last month .I sure hope it gets better .

ZERO STARS!!!!!!!! THE ONLY THING THAT HAS NOT CHANGED AT POPPY'S SINCE 1975 IS THE DATED, DIRTY BUILDING. THE DONUTS ARE TOUGH AND DEFINITELY NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO PUT UP WITH THE LIL PUNK KID THAT WORKS THE COUNTER. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT ! WILL NOT BE BACK

Best. Donuts. Ever. I believe the building may be the remnant of a very old Dunkin’ Donuts from years gone by - maybe the 70’s? But it’s not about the decor. It is about the best donuts ever! A family-owned business. The service is great and they are great at what they do. You can tell the bakers are up in the wee hours preparing their special-recipe donuts just for you. I love this place! Wished I still lived close by!
